OVERDUE NEWSLETTER APRIL 2004

Apologies for the last ness of the news letter. There are no excuses itís just late. I could have sat down a couple of weeks ago and written it but I didnít so now itís late. I could also add May to the heading and make Mays newsletter not late. But I wonít do that because some of the newsletters are sent by snail mail and I havenít got a lot of ink left to print them out. So instead Iíll do this newsletter for April, send it out late and then you can guess about Mays newsletter as to whether it will be on time, early or also late. In short the newsletter is late.

Austin
Bumpstart visited Austin and his family at his home in Newquay Zoo on the very fine last day of February. He seemed pleased to see us and we took him presents of fruit and grapes. He shares his home with the porcupines who also welcomed our visit. This was because while the zoo keeper gave Austin and his family the grapes that we had bought the porcupines were able to eat their meal in peace. Anyway Austin is well and sends his love and wishes us all the best for the coming year. Sweet!

Murder Mystery
This was our second Xmas Party for 2003. I donít think too many people had trouble guessing who would be the one to cop it. Although with her attitude it was a wonder sheíd lasted as long as she did. The gent who had been slapped 3 times last year played the husband on this occasion. He was still slimy but did have a better pair of shoes on this time. The boots werenít so high and the skirts not so short, but Iím sure that fun was had by all.

Last meeting
Another huge turn out of members heard the tale of one memberís problem of recovering goods from a local garage. Those of us that were there took on board how important it is to find a reputable garage who gives accurate quotes for time and money involved, who will also notify you of any extra costs incurred before the work is carried out.

Previously we have included a heroes and villains section in the newsletter. Whilst there is nothing wrong at all with the heroes section we are checking on the legalities of the villains section before we reinstate this section.

Anneís birthday was also celebrated with a rather nice cake, and Daniel and Emmaís Engagement was announced.

Heroes
Terry Simmonds-Owner of Garage in Indian Queens 01726 860154 for completing work on Little Chrisís mini that the previous garage couldnít be bothered to finish. And also for Mot ing Silviaís Mini that a garage in St.Austell had not only sniped at the mini but didnít complete the work it had alleged to have done.

Elite Signs 01637 878160 for a great job with fairly short notice on Little Chrisís Mini and taking the time to explain about adhesive reactions. They have also done work on other memberís minis before and come much recommended.

Itís always worth checking with other members before you have any work done.

Not So Good News
Iíve never had to right about an accident involving a member before. But I was told I should and have been given permission to do so by the person involved.
Daniel Williams (Mary Quant Mini) had an accident at work which meant he was taken to Treliske Hospital with suspected spinal injuries. He was then transferred to Derriford where after an exploratory operation he was told the bad news that he will not able to walk again.
He has now been moved to a specialized unit in Salisbury. Here he will be learning new skills to help with his condition.eg with the aid of a wheelchair- Hand brake turns, doughnuts and drag racing.
Despite all that has happened to Daniel in the last few weeks he is in good spirits and has high hopes. On behalf of Bumpstart I would like to wish Daniel all the best and send all good wishes to him, Emma and the families.
I will keep you up to date with any news on Daniel.

Riviera Run
Starts from Friday 30th April through to the Monday. For those of you that are camping for the weekend, several members are setting up camp on Friday morning. You will need to stop and buy your ticket (£25) at reception.
Saturday sees the arrival of the rest of the Minis. Sunday is the main show, show and shine, trade stands and the run. The BUMPSTART ANNUAL BBQ will follow this at approx 7.00pmish. If anyone will be joining us for BBQ at a very bargain price of £3 per head (regardless of age) I need to know. At the moment only 6 people have confirmed. Although food is provided, drinks are not.
For directions- follow the A30 towards Newquay and you will see RAC signs to show you the way.
Entry for the show on Sunday only is available. At the moment nobody from the campsite has got back to me with a price for this, but it only is a few pounds.
This should be an excellent social event and I look forward to seeing you all.

Next Meeting and Club Photo June 2nd 2004
DO NOT GO TO THE VICTORIA. Please read on.

At the moment we have no official club Photo. So for the next meeting we would like as many of the members as possible to meet at ASDA St.Austell ready to leave the car park at 7.15pm where we will partake in a mini run to a venue suitable for our publicity shot. We will be driving through some very pretty places and later in the evening we will be ending at a nice little watering hole somewhere. It would be great to see as many of you and your minis as possible. Please wear club T-shirts if you have them.
